Ebook to audiobook
Turn your ebooks into audiobooks.
Upload an EPUB and AllReads reads the whole book aloud, cover to cover in reading order, with each word highlighted in the text as it’s spoken. Ideal for the many books that never got an audiobook at all.
How it works
Three steps, then just listen.
- 1
Add your EPUB
Upload it to your library — up to 25MB a file — or email it to save@allreads.net.
- 2
Choose the narrator
Pick a natural-sounding voice and a speed you like, from 0.5× to 3×.
- 3
Listen like an audiobook
It reads from cover to cover and remembers where you stopped, on every device.
What it does
Built for listening, not just reading out.
The whole book, in order
Read cover to cover in the book’s own reading order, chapter after chapter.
Read along in the text
Each word is highlighted as it’s spoken, so you can switch between reading and listening.
Picks up where you stopped
Close it mid-chapter and carry on later from the same word, on desktop or phone.
Footnotes, only if you want them
Turn on auto-skip to leave out footnotes, citations and URLs that interrupt a sentence.
Up to 3× speed
Get through a long book faster, or slow a dense one right down.
Download as MP3
Export a book as an .mp3 in your chosen voice and listen offline in any audio app.
Questions
Fair questions, honest answers.
Which ebook formats does it read?
EPUB, plus PDF, Word (.docx) and plain text. Kindle formats such as AZW and KFX are not supported.
Can it read Kindle or DRM-protected books?
No. AllReads reads DRM-free EPUB files — the kind sold DRM-free by many publishers and stores, or downloaded from public-domain libraries. It does not remove copy protection.
How long a book can it handle?
Up to 25MB per file. A long novel as an EPUB is usually a few megabytes, so length is rarely the limit.
What about books that have no audiobook?
That is one of the best uses for it. Plenty of well-known books have never been recorded; if you own a DRM-free copy, AllReads can read it to you.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. The free demo opens EPUBs up to 4MB with no account, so you can hear a chapter of your own book first.
Can I download the audiobook as an MP3?
Yes. A book in your library can be exported as an .mp3 in your chosen voice from the export menu.
Which voices can I use?
Thirteen AllReads voices come with every plan, in American and British English, with no API key and nothing billed by the word. If you already pay OpenAI or xAI, add your own key to use their voices too, billed by them at their price with nothing added on top.
Does it remember my place?
Yes. Your position is saved to the word, so you can stop on one device and carry on from the same sentence on another.
