Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Recognition runs inside your browser, so the image itself never leaves your computer — there is no upload, and no copy of it on any server. The only thing downloaded is the recognition engine, which comes the other way.
Why is the first run slow?
The recognition engine and its English language data are downloaded once, around 15MB, then cached by your browser. Every image after that starts straight away.
What kind of images work best?
Sharp, straight, high-contrast text — screenshots are close to perfect. Photos taken at an angle, handwriting, and low-resolution images are where accuracy drops off.
Can it read a scanned PDF?
Not here — this tool takes images. The full AllReads app runs the same recognition across a whole scanned PDF and reads it aloud with the words highlighted on the page.
